A New Family Tradition

“Christmas now surrounds us,
Happiness is everywhere
Our hands are busy with many tasks
As carols fill the air.”

~ Shirley Sallay

Growing up, my family made Christmas cookies.  We made them from scratch and each of us (4) had our favorite recipe.  The cook books were covered in grease and butter, each page well loved.  In the end it did not matter what kind we made because they were decorated in frosting and sprinkles and COMPLETELY covered.  They never made it to the quality level to gift to friends and neighbors, but we loved the act of making.

I have a two year old so unearthing and fostering Christmas traditions has been on my mind.

I want to do some of what my parents did and pass along these annual traditions to my daughter.  And why not?  There is almost nothing more unifying than cooking and singing carols.  Especially with my Dad and daughter.  What a gift this day was.

This might be a family tradition worth bringing back.
