Why Remembering that first year does not matter

I realize that my daughter will not remember this past year of her life and all the wonderful things we did to celebrate.  From trips to meet her great grandpa in Louisiana to trips to the other side of town to take part in a Denver cultural tradition, a.k.a. Casa Bonita… it has been a special 12 months.  We are laying the groundwork for the life we want to live and the kind of family we want to be.  And, while she might not recall these fun times, this year was not only about her.

We grew as a family and learned more about each other, and our roles in supporting this life we have created.  We tested our limits with our personal and professional work life balance and found that while free time no longer exists, it is an admirable and important pursuit.

In this year, I know I am a better photographer.  Being a mom made me see some shots in different ways, and find some unique moments more endearing than I might have a year before.  I also know I am a better person for this new role in life and for that, I have her to thank.

As you might imagine, I could share a million images that reflect this perfect life we life.  But, I am going to show you just a few of the life we actually live in a few photographs from one week here at our house.  It can be stressful and it can be chaotic, but most of all it is happiness and that is enough for us.

I feel so lucky to have a happy healthy thriving child who is easy to love and remarkable to watch.  She might not remember this first year, but we will never forget.
