Short of doing a Day in the life (OR lifestyle) photo shoot session… my favorite candid shots are caught in between poses. Kids are being themselves, parents are interacting with each other and the littles ones are letting their minds wander. The resulting chaos can be artistic beauty. It is the reason I will make you put your child in place and why I spend time directing you with what I am looking for. What happens after that is up to them, and I aim to capture it.
Photojournalists tend to shoot landscape format to capture the scene wider than you can get in a portrait format shot. It brings in context and paints a scene. While I aim to give you those cropped in tight images as well, the wide ones are the ones that make me smile.
In the example shots below, I LOVE the baby being tossed in the top of the shot. I also love the mom giving her toddler directions and then the image that shows the child immediately disregarding that advice. I love the cousins interacting and the reflection of Dad’s face in the window. This small set was one of my favorite collections from their one hour, Littleton photo shoot.
