“Let the beauty of what you love be what you do.” – Rumi
I use my “off season” to explore new sites and review existing ones that I have not been to in awhile. I do all my back end work like updating templates and contracts, archiving galleries and updating my website. I do my taxes and make sure I am up to date on my memberships.
On this very cold day I brought my daughter to Edwards, Colorado. I have been looking for some sites outside of Vail that are mountainesque and interesting, AND have parking. This site has a lot of potential and I wanted to scout it out. As a winter site it is stark, though the bridge is great for framing shots and dynamic portraits. The mountain views are a bit far off and would be hidden by trees once they are in season. I imagine it is gorgeous in the fall with the bright and colorful deciduous trees. There are boulders and grasses that would work when in bloom. There are intermittent benches and some river access. I would do a mini shoot half day here for sure, a full day and I would run out of interesting spots. I think this site is best in the afternoon. We were there in the late morning and some of the best sites were in full sun. There is shade to be found but occasional “private property” and “stay on the trail” indicators made me walk the line. I imagine it gets busy in the summer months.
