This was this family’s first photo session, having been given a gift certificate after their daughter was born. The weather was really nice, especially for this part of Colorado AND this time of year. No wind, no prescription and not many people. Just as we were about to start our session, they decided to put a hair bow in, and then she decided she was not having it.

I suggested tricks and these parents (and a grandparent) tried all the moves they could think of to get her into a happy place. Yet she persisted. We did manage to distract her a few times and I caught it, which is all you get some days. And that is OK.

This session is a sweet reflection on what it is like to be 18 months old, on this day, at this moment. I imagine she smiled the entire way home.
