Daddy Davis bought this photoshoot as a gift for his wife almost a year ago, then their life got a little crazy. When they called and were ready and excited to do this session, I was thrilled to get started. Nici and I know eachother from high school but other than facebook, we have not seen each other in many years. She is a also budding photographer with a great eye so it was an honor to have this opportunity to turn the camera on her.
Clay and Nici (aka Dad and Mom to their two adorable offspring) hale from Erie, Colorado. They were interested in a shoot with backgrounds that are unique and engaging, which led us to shoot downtown Denver. I am always happy to head that direction because the opportunities are endless. With the vertical lines of the buildings and bridges, your eye dances around the images. The city creates lines and shadows that you do not get in a nature site. The sun bounces and backlights portraits in a way that you can not get in a studio. When needed, the shade helps soften portraits and the facades can block wind. Besides that, Denver is an awesome city that is forever changing so you never know what will be going on.
Thank you Davis family for being up for this spot AND for putting up with the hiccup at the end. It really was a pleasure, I can not wait to photograph your crew again.
